I had simular experiances on a Safari bow hunt that was continued in June,2010 from Oct 2009. I got so cold at the age of 73 in the stand that I couldn’t continue(18degs) To show you how good these people are, Allen asked me back in June to complete my hunt. It was an unusual situation but I am so greatful. My hunt was successful in that I took 3 hogs and saw all types of animals. Lori’s cooking didn’t do my waist line any good though! She baked a strawberry pie that was wonderful for Allen and I. Roger did his best to get me in a stand where the Axis bucks might be available, but they never came close enough. I did see approx. 10 different species of game and had a good time with the other guests as well. I have given fliers to friends and I will definately be back

Sara~You’re awesome! That is such a wonderful idea…I really might just do it! We had a freelance writer/Russel Glaves come out today and take pics/interview us for a magazine and he also wanted a couple of recipes so….hmmmmm….maybe just maybe!!

Allen and Lori,
Thanks so much for the great hunt, great hospitality and GREAT food. It is a good thing I am an ICU nurse because I had to give Mr. Grand Slam CPR just outside of the DOS PLUMAS ranch when we left. He survived to tell his hunting stories at Dos Plumas Ranch in Texas. Next time we come it is all about ME and some big hogs. Lori – can’t wait to see you on Rachel Ray promoting your new cookbook entitled, “Dos Comidas at Dos Plumas: how to cook on the ranch”

Allen, where was this one on Wed. night? Just a note to say thanks for a great hunt. Tommy and I talked about it all the way home(1200 miles) You have a first class operation there. We will sure try to get back for another hunt. I will leave you with this bit of advice “You IS what you IS”

Congrat’s to your son Lori. I did basic and AIT there myself in the old part of the base a long time ago. Know Columbus quite well too. LOL I know that with parents like the 2 of Y’all he will be a great soldier. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOrah

Allen and Lori,
If y’ll get a chance, read the story under “Best Outfitters” on the THH website. I can not say enough about how great a time we all had with you guys this last weekend. Allen, your knowledge of your property and the time and care you take to make sure the animals have what they need is superior to any I have met. You treated us strangers as if we were family and that in itself is a rarity these days with everyone in the business more concerned about the money end of it vs the good time had by their costomers. To which, at no time did I feel like one. You did what you could to get me on an Axis, but hey, that’s why it is called hunting and not killing. Like we both talked about with my buddy in Idaho, it’s not all about coming home with an animal but the freindships made and the great times had by all. Tha animal is just a bonus. LOri, your home cooking leaves nothing to be desired. It was excellent and I came away stuffed everytime. My son loves the chocolate cake also. Thanks, LOL Anyways, like I said to you that day, I saw more animals in 2 days with you than I have on any other ranch I have hunted since being here in Tx and that is the truth. I am already looking forward to coming back. I’ll get that axis one way or another. It may take me a few trips but I’ll get-er-done and trust me a few trips aint a bad idea either. Y’all take care and be safe.

I hope I can get out there sometime later this year for my third hunt at Dos Plumas!

And maybe if the hunting gods are especially kind, I can get to Kansas for some pheasant hunting.
